Excuse me, what is my Movtivation?

(Free Turbo Sport 7 to whoever can tell me what that is from.)

Important: I have created a team of my own for Movember called Uncle Mustache. If you would like to donate you can look me up by that name.

As I said in my first post (email) my main motivation for joining Movember, rather than any other, was because my Granddad had prostate cancer. He wrote a book about his life and I started reading it this week. What stands out to me so far is he hit the president of Texas Tech in the face with a dinner roll, peed in the kitchen sink and had a malfunctioning Murphy bed (wink). Now, I could carry on the White tradition of telling every little detail of a story (Tom and Josh just thought to themselves, “That is so Josh/Tom”), but I will sum up him up in a few words. He was a great man. We all can thank him and Grandmother for housing us, employing us or giving us a free bottle of Coke at some point in our lives. He is greatly missed. My parents have about 50 copies in their garage if you want to catch up on your Robert Dennis trivia.

Last weekend, Shayna and I went for coffee. Like some coffee houses do, there were random big books on the tables. Shayna took a seat at the only table with a book but no people. After about a minute a man walked up and said, “I was sitting here…” But before he could finish his witty comment he had been practicing for the last minute he saw Uncle Mustache and took his book and left. I can only assume he was terrified of the old girl. There is a slight chance, though, he wasn’t bothered to just move and not planning the cut down of the century, but only a slight chance.

This post I am starting a new segment called “Life Lessons from Uncle Mustache,” which the name of him/her. You’ll notice the mustache’s gender will change periodically.

If you are like me you are probably thinking two things: Do I really sound like that and that was not good advice.

Here is this week's growth:

(I demand to be taken seriously.)

Does Josh read this?
Michael Jordan wore 23, 45 and 9 in his career. However, he wore a different number for one NBA game...send me a picture of that game.

So Fresh...

A friend of mine, Brian Stewart (Taylor), recommended that I start a blog to update my facial hair growth. As I said in the email to all of you, it was probably just to get a shout out.

Well, since I referenced the Fresh Prince twice he took it upon himself to A) show me up about what real Fresh Prince style is and B) show off his photoshop skills. On top of that he beat Josh to the punch on the picture of a lion riding a horse. Then he kicked the White boys while they were down by adding an even better animal riding a horse picture.

If you are keeping score at home, it is Brian: 1 White Boys: 0 this week.

(I was referring to the inside-out jacket but whatever Brian...)

(Would finding this really have been that hard Josh?)

(There is nothing funny to say here.)

Gaining Momentum (word play, get it?)

Well, it’s the end of week 2 and I am still going strong. This morning was the first official time I have been able to hold liquid in the ol’ stache. A few of you have already donated and my cousin Rob has started a moustache (mustache from now on) of his own. I halfway expected my brothers and dad to get involved but at Dennis Bros. it is No Shave November so I understand them going full beard. Plus, Andy looks creepy enough and doesn’t need to frighten Bear with a gross mustache (I put thought into which brother to insult, maybe next time Ben and Josh).

Check out movember.com for any information on donating.

Send me your pictures if you are growing a mustache now or ever. I think everyone enjoys a good ‘80s mustache picture.

Here is my progress this week (in order from bottom to top).

(Fresh Prince style.)

(Nobody said a word about this giant fish.)

(Josh if you even read my emails send me a picture of a lion riding a horse. It is out there...)

Movember

Friends and Family,

I have joined up with an organization called Movember to grow a moustache for the month of November in an effort to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer research. The specific team name is Club Trillion. My Granddad, Robert Dennis, died from complications of prostate cancer when I was in high school so that was my main motivation to join. There are three ways you can help:

One: Grow a Moustache (Check that off the list for every male on my Dad's side of the family)

Two: Be supportive of a man growing a moustache for Movember. (Looking at you Shayna)

Three: You could donate money toward the cause. Movember.com

A few people from my work are donating a dollar a day plus a bonus for making it the whole month. At my company we are not allowed to grow facial hair so I had to do a little smooth talking to get my boss to agree. The only stipulation was I have to wear a suit and tie every day I have a moustache. I guess he figures as long as I look decent from the neck down I can look as ridiculous as I want in the face. For some reason no one at my work thinks I will make it, which is foolish considering how much I love facial hair and don't mind wearing a suit.

Anyway, if you donate that would be great but I at least grow a moustache.

Once a week I will send out pictures of how my moustache is turning out. Here is week one in order from bottom to top...
